Have you found your MOG Mates?
MOG Mates is The MOG Project’s community program designed to help people living with MOGAD connect with others in their own geographic areas, alongside families, friends, and caregivers.
Living with a rare disease can be isolating, especially when you don’t know anyone nearby who truly understands. MOG Mates exists to help bridge that gap by encouraging local, informal connections rooted in shared experience — and creating space for moments of joy, laughter, and connection along the way.
While MOG Mates is part of a growing global community, its heart is local.
What is MOG Mates?
MOG Mates is a community-driven program that helps individuals impacted by MOGAD find and connect with others in their region. These connections are informal and flexible, shaped by what participants feel comfortable with and what works best for their lives (and energy levels!).
MOG Mates may include:
- Individuals living with MOGAD
- Parents and caregivers
- Family members and loved ones
Connections might take the form of:
- Small, informal meetups
- One-on-one connections
- Casual group gatherings
- Shared walks, coffee meetups, or conversations — anything from a quick hello to a longer catch-up. Whatever feels right!
Participation in MOG Mates is always optional, and there is no required level of involvement.

Why Local Connection Matters
Meeting others nearby who understand MOGAD can:
- Reduce feelings of isolation
- Provide emotional and practical peer support
- Create opportunities for shared understanding outside of clinical settings
- Help individuals and families feel more connected within their own communities
- And sometimes, simply offer a chance to laugh, swap stories, and enjoy each other’s company. Because fun and connection matter, too!
MOGMates complements The MOG Project’s work in research, education, and advocacy by ensuring that people impacted by MOGAD have opportunities to connect with one another in meaningful ways.
An Invitation to MOG Mates for the MOG Jog®
As MOGMates grows, The MOG Project is exploring new ways to sustain and expand its mission — including a potential global fundraising initiative called the MOG Jog® that would help support MOGAD research.
As part of this early, exploratory phase, we are inviting interested MOGMates to express interest in leadership or ambassador roles for the MOG Jog® to take place in October 2026 as a soft launch — which will be a fun, visible way to come together while supporting our important cause.
Expressing interest lets us know you may be open to learning more and staying informed as plans develop for this inaugural fundraising event.
If you are a MOGMate and would like to express your interest in a leadership role for the MOG Jog®, please fill out the form below.
MOGMates exists because of the people who make up this community. Whether you connect locally, participate occasionally, or simply appreciate knowing others are nearby — and maybe share a laugh or two along the way — you matter.
We’re grateful you’re here!
