The MOG Project Announces the First World MOGAD Day

On April 5th, 2025, The MOG Project will hold its first-ever World MOGAD Day. To kick off this inaugural event, they will host their Inaugural International MOGAD Patient Summit, a historic event for the Global MOGAD Community as this is the first time that patients, caregivers, researchers, clinicians, industry and collaborative partners connected to rare neuroimmune diseases, specifically MOGAD, will gather for a full day of MOGAD education and patient/caregiver experience sharing at the international level. What is even more thrilling is that this event was not only sponsored by key industry partners, UCB Biopharma, Roche and Genentech, but these industry partners will be participating in the creation of educational sessions for the event and manning virtual booths for patients to learn about new treatments in clinical trial.
There will be a reading of the proclamation for World MOGAD Day, which will outline the needs of the MOGAD Community and why this day of awareness is needed globally. The World MOGAD Day Proclamation is shown below and can be downloaded for use in all MOGAD Community awareness and policy events.
To provide some history to the creation of this day, we look back a few years to the creation of MOGAD Awareness Month, which was created by the Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association in collaboration with The MOG Project. Other organizations who advocate for MOGAD recognize the month of April as MOGAD Awareness Month, chosen by The MOG Project as the official month to bring awareness to the disorder in the US because of the seasonal return of hummingbirds to the Eastern US where the organization is based.
After a few years of MOGAD Awareness Month, The MOG Project recognized a need for a global effort to not only bring awareness to the disease, but to take a yearly opportunity to rally communities internationally with events that brought forth real and positive change for patients. This call to action, is designed to “Make MOGAD Visible” which became the mantra for this important event. The MOG Project, as the preeminent organization for MOGAD globally, is committed to using this day to encourage the MOGAD Community worldwide to hold events and other activities to drive awareness, fundraise for MOGAD research, affect policy change for local governments, provide education and support for MOGAD patients in local communities and spearhead projects that educate clinicians, researchers and industry about MOGAD using patient experience and perspective.
We are committed to being the leader in MOGAD advocacy and are excited to kick off what will prove to be a lasting legacy for the MOGAD Community. Let’s all Make MOGAD Visible and celebrate World MOGAD Day together!
