Youth Engagement Program
A New Chapter for Junior Champions and Youth Champions
Since we started the program, being a MOG Project Children’s Ambassador or Youth Champion has been an honor — a way to recognize a child’s courage, or the quiet strength of a sibling supporting someone they love. We’re keeping that spirit, and building something more: a real program that teaches kids and teens what it means to be a MOGADvocate.
Starting this Fall, our two programs are coming together as one, with two tracks based on age instead of their connection to MOGAD. Every child — whether they live with MOGAD themselves or are a sibling or close friend of someone who does — now has a path built for where they are developmentally.
This is a partnership with your whole family, not just your child. We see parents and guardians as co-learners and partners, not just chaperones — you’ll stay in the loop every step of the way, and for families who want to be even more involved, we’re forming a Parent Advisory Committee as well!

Two Tracks
Junior Champions (Ages 5–11)
Connection, visibility, and belonging — built for younger kids and their families:
- Share their story in our newsletters, social media, or at the Summit
- A simple, low-lift annual activity
- An invitation to the Patient Summit and local events
- No calls, no ongoing time commitment
Youth Champions (Ages 12+)
A fuller leadership path:
- One 45-minute call each month
- One fundraising or awareness project each year — a t-shirt campaign, a bake sale, a fundraising walk, or their own idea!
- A Certificate of Achievement
- Verified volunteer service hours
- Recognition at the Patient Summit
Our Youth Engagement Program is completely free, and nominating your child today doesn’t lock you into anything. We’ll share the exact schedule and everything else your family needs to know well before your child’s participation begins. (Full program structure will be shared in October 2026.)
Already Signed Up?
If your child was previously part of the Children’s Ambassador or Youth Champion program, you’re not starting over — we’ll be reaching out directly in September to confirm you’d like to continue in the new program.
Nominate by September 30 to be part of our first wave! Every participant receives a welcome package with a certificate, a hummingbird stuffed animal, and one our The MOG Project’s exclusive bookmarks, and first-wave families will get theirs together this Fall. Nominate after September 30 and you’ll still receive one in our next batch!
What's Next
We’re excited to share the full program with everyone — including monthly session topics, fundraising toolkits, and how to get involved right away. We’ll be sending full details by email on October 6, followed by a feature about the Youth Engagement Program in our Family Newsletter in mid-October. Have questions in the meantime? Email us at family@mogproject.org.
