Interleukin-6 inhibitor (IL-6 inhibitor)

Immunosuppressive agents that inhibit the action of interleukins. Interleukins are a group of cytokines (secreted proteins in response to infection) synthesized by white blood cells (lymphocytes, monocytes, and macrophages). They play a key role in the regulation of the immune system. Studies have shown that in MOGAD these medications can disrupt the action of the MOG Antibody on the myelin in the central nervous system to help prevent future attacks.
